Sevag A. Bastian, MD

After earning his Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, Dr. Bastian attended Chicago Medical School. He then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. During his time there, Dr. Bastian was recognized for his dedication to promoting a learning environment and received the Resident Teaching Award. He then returned to California to complete a fellowship at the Cedar-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institue in shoulder and elbow reconstruction at the Cedar-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute under Dr. John Itamura.
Dr. Bastian has taken the skills he acquired during his extensive training and incorporated them into his practice. He uses an educational approach to treatment, teaching his patients about each option available to them and empowering them to choose their own path. He makes himself available as a resource to his patients and breaks down their options so that every aspect of their treatment plan is clear.
By partnering with patients, Dr. Bastian provides care for chronic pain, including arthritis and joint pain and persistent neck and back pain. Committed to staying active in his field, Dr. Bastian is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, in addition to serving as an editor and peer reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. Dr. Bastian has numerous publications in academic journals and has presented to his peers on topics within the field of orthopedic surgery. He is also fluent in Spanish and Armenian in addition to English, allowing him to serve a more diverse patient population.
