About Dr. Ilahi

Board-certified gastroenterologist Dr. Ilahi welcomes both new and existing patients to his state-of-the-art private practice, located in the heart of Lake Barrington, Illinois.
After graduating from the Karachi Medical & Dental College in Karachi, Pakistan, and earning his Doctor of Medicine, Dr. Ilahi began his required patient care training in the United States. Dr. Ilahi completed an internal medicine residency program at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.
Because Dr. Ilahi’s father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, he developed a passion for gastroenterology and helping patients prevent and treat serious issues. To specialize in his field, Dr. Ilahi stayed with Cook County Health and finished a fellowship in gastroenterology. Dr. Ilahi has been in practice for over 20 years and is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in gastroenterology.
Patients come to Dr. Ilahi for help with abdominal pain, hemorrhoids, and irritable bowel syndrome, to name a few issues. The practice of Shahid B Ilahi MD SC is also accredited as an office-based surgery center by The Joint Commission. This allows Dr. Ilahi to provide diagnostic and treatment solutions on-site, including colonoscopies, endoscopies, and other modern procedures.
Dr. Ilahi is known for treating patients like family members. He has a compassionate and empathetic bedside manner and ensures his patients are equipped with the knowledge they need to make educated decisions regarding every component of their health care. If necessary, Dr. Ilahi refers patients to other specialists to ensure they receive the appropriate treatment, since he believes patient health is most important.
