The Springfield Park District would like to inform the community of an upcoming two-part construction project happening on Monday, October 19th through Wednesday, October 20th (weather permitting) on the park road next to Washington Park Preschool in Washington Park.
On Monday, October 19th, concrete work will begin on the park road. The project will include new concrete curbs, guttering, and paving. During this time, the park road will still be accessible.
On Wednesday, October 21st, the second phase will begin. The project will include the park road receiving a mill and asphalt overlay. The park road will temporarily be closed to traffic during this time; however, patrons will still be able to enter and exit into Washington Park by the South Grand park entrance.
Please note that the park and all facilities will remain open during the temporary road closure.

Trout Season starts this Saturday, October 17th!
Over 50 ponds, lakes, and streams throughout the state of Illinois will be stocked with Fall Trout including, the Springfield Park District's ponds at Southwind Park and Washington Park.
To participate in this Fall's Trout Season, you must possess a valid Illinois Fishing License with an Inland Trout Stamp.
Illinois Fishing Licenses and Inland Trout Stamps are available at DNR Direct license and permit locations, which include sporting goods stores, bait shops, and other retail outlets. For more information regarding Trout Season, please check the IDNR website at the following link: https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/

Come Skate With Us During Tiny Tots Ice Skating!
Preschoolers (ages 2-5) will benefit by learning the basic fundamental of ice skating with professional coaches! This is a great way to introduce your child to the ice.

After much difficult deliberation, Henson Robinson Zoo would like to announce that Winterland Holiday Lights is cancelled for the 2020 season. Winterland Holiday Lights is an annual event at the zoo where visitors can walk around and see dozens of displays with thousands of lights, make s'mores and sip on hot cocoa, all while enjoying the zoo animals in a winter setting. It has been a welcomed event for years that has helped keep the community connected to the zoo during the cold winter months. We have created a safe and FUN skating activity for beginners who have previously participated in our Learn To Skate program. This 4 week program for both figure skaters and those wanting to learn how to skate for hockey. Figure skating and hockey are very skilled sports and development of these skills instills a sense of accomplishment and confidence in all individuals! Our goal is to make practices FUN and engaging while also advancing skill level of each participant.
