NEED SOME FELLOWSHIP? The video Masses are great, but do you feel the need to share fellowship with others? One suggestion is to watch the readings and homily part of the Mass with your friends on Zoom, and then discuss your thoughts and feelings on what you heard. This is simple to do on Zoom - just have one of the attendees share their screen and then replay the YouTube video of the Mass. You can access the share screen button on the bottom of your Zoom window.

WATCH VIDEO: https://youtu.be/USgD7LnsJys After enriching and changing the lives of over 897 children from approximately 678 families for the past 20 amazing years, St Thomas Becket Preschool closed its doors in June 2020. This decision was made before the pandemic came along. STB Preschool was a vision of Pam Magyar, one of our parishioners, who took on the challenge of creating it in July 2000 using her own $2000 donation. The first school year 2000-2001 enrolled 26 children with 2 staff members in 2 classes. The following year it grew to 90 children with 7 staff members in 7 classes. And it continued up from there. Many children came more than one year. The largest enrollment was 124 children in 2005-2006. From the field trips to the nature walks to the daily activities used to show children that learning can happen while playing, STB Preschool has been a fun and exciting place for children as well as staff. We are sad to see it end. Here is a fun fact: 25% of the parishioner graduates from high school this year got their start attending STB Preschool! Thank you to all the families who entrusted us with the care of your children and the staff who made it a great place to be. YOUTUBE.COM STB says goodbye to our Preschool

GIVING GARDEN A huge thank you to all who contributed to the giving gardens over the weekend. Between adding fill and staging the materials and equipment on Friday; and mixing, “soiling” and watering the beds, raking and building the greenhouse supports on Saturday - there were over 80 volunteer-hours donated to the project. Incredible! Warms the soul to be part of such an engaged parish. The gardens will provide a lot of fresh produce to the food insecure in our midst over the coming years. You should feel very good about your contribution!

Share your lights! The Season of light and Giving is almost here! Choose how you would like to share your light this Advent / Christmas Season STB ministries are working together this year to communicate meaningful options for your household to make a difference for families in need that live in the Minneapolis / St Paul area. Explore the options and decide which giving opportunity is best for you and your family. Hurry, sign up ends Sunday, December 6. Go to http://87e3fe3a943b5d2ccdf2-0124caf76e8af9e3c2f1a6d1f3dfd30b.r43.cf2.rackcdn.com/uploaded/p/0e11190442_1605569572_pdf-t-sjo-sharing-your-lights-2020.pdf
Here are some things you can begin to do now to more fully experience the Sense of Place which is church, home and your inner being. • Make a manger at home in a craft project(see below for an example) or using any container, like a bowl or box which is meaningful to you. See below for an idea. • Make an Advent Wreath and light it when we light the Advent Candles at the video Mass. These wreaths are limited only by four candles and your imagination. Some helpful websites: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/ 98657048058774629/ or https://mariebostwick.com/diy-advent-wreath/. • Begin thinking about a special item that you have that is meaningful to you. Something that brings you joy, peace, hope, evokes a good memory. That gives you that sense of place in your life. Bring it to Mass on the Feast of Christ the King or have it with you that weekend when you watch the on-line Mass. We will bless those objects at that Mass and use them for contemplation during Advent.
During this season of craziness are you looking for something to look forward to? St. Thomas Becket is joining several area churches to create Christmas light displays. On Sunday, December 13th from 5-7pm, the community can drive through the parking lots to see displays of Christmas Hope and Joy. There are several ways parishioners can help: 1. Please let us know if you have Christmas light displays to loan for a day or two, which could be set up Saturday December 12 or Sunday December 13. We would like to focus on a grouping of religious themed displays and have a separate grouping of secular displays. 2. Let us know if you would be interested in creating a light display (on your own or with a group), perhaps a giant star, outlines of the three wise men, etc. 3. We would like to hang lights on trees in front of the church and by our entrance sign, which can happen once we have purchased lights. Let us know if you have experience hanging lights on trees or if you would just be willing to help with this. Contact Kristin from STB's Fun and Fellowship Council at kmatlon@outlook.com to donate, volunteer or ask questions.
Saint Thomas Becket ADVENT CALENDAR 2020 http://87e3fe3a943b5d2ccdf2-0124caf76e8af9e3c2f1a6d1f3dfd30b.r43.cf2.rackcdn.com/uploaded/2/0e11237276_1606844147_25-advent-tree-b.pdf A Sense of Place We carry our sense of place deep in our memories, and even deeper in our hearts. Yet even when time or space… or pandemic keeps us from visiting special places, we can go there in our imagination. And we can use them as invitations to prayer. This Advent Calendar invites you and your family to visit special places and events at St. Thomas Becket as a way to experience a sense of place with our loving God. It is also a way to envision a future full of hope. Each day of Advent, click on a numbered ornament and reflect on the image and message.
If you haven’t looked at the STB Advent Calendar yet, do yourself a favor and look. It is so beautiful with pics around STB and of members, including Rocco! See previous post for link.

RESERVE A SEAT AT BOOK-A-PEW: https://bookapew.com/app/mn/stb/ THIS SUNDAY: Archbishop Hebda will Preside and Preach at our 9 am Mass on January 24. The Archbishop visits each parish during his time as Archbishop, so he will be with us on January 24. We will use the same procedure we have in the past months for Mass attendance: signing up on Book A Pew, a limit of 150 people, following all COVID protocols. Ideally, it would be wonderful to have a reception after Mass to greet the Archbishop; however, due to safety reasons regarding the pandemic we will not be doing that. Fr. Tim
