Counseling for new moms and dads, to assist in dealing with the myriad emotional, physical and mental challenges when becoming a new parent, including relationship challenges, identity transformation, sexuality after baby, body image issues, sibling conflicts, post-partum mood disorders, in-laws and family adjustments and other challenges. Tamar Springer is a licensed psychotherapist and certified sexuality educator, and has been providing services to individuals, couples and families for 25 years. Tamar was an instructor in the "Making Marriage Work" program at the American Jewish University for over 10 years; she designed and implemented the first Post-partum Depression support program for Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles in 2005, "New Moms Connect" and she has presented to both professionals and lay persons on a variety of clinical topics. Ms. Springer also provides pre-marital counseling, and counseling and support for a variety of life transitions. Ms. Springer's modalities of therapy include a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral approaches, although therapy is always tailored to the unique needs and style of each individual. Ms. Springer started her career as a mediator with the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Court Services, and is a skilled and experienced in mediation with couples, families and business partners. Ms. Springer is also a Certified Sexuality Educator, and provides specialized sexuality counseling and education to new moms and dads struggling with this aspect of their lives, and also for women who need a safe place to discuss sexuality concerns, inhibitions, body image, past traumas, early messages about sex, and other aspects of sexuality. Ms. Springer provides counseling for adolescents and their families, also concerning sexual development, family issues and bullying.
