Familiarize your child with the pools in which they frequent, whether it's at home or a loved one's house. Show them the exits and where the stairs/ladders are located. Teach them where the deep end drops off. Be proactive in their safety and retention of their safety knowledge.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Deonesia Grays. She has dedicated her life to drowning prevention since the loss of her daughter Bria Nicole Harvey in 2005. She was one of the first members of Parents Preventing Childhood Drowning. Always the first to volunteer and help for a project. In 2019, she traveled to New Orleans for the American Academy of Pediatrics National Convention to speak to pediatricians about the importance of drowning prevention education. This amazing woman has helped save the lives of countless children. She will be greatly missed.
