• We are limiting staff attendance to only those presenting an item on the agenda.
• Any applicant with an item on the agenda, we are asking them to limit their attendance to just one or two people.
• Anyone from the public wanting to participate in the Public Comment portion or speak on a matter requiring a Public Hearing on the agenda, we are asking them to submit comments in advance of the meeting rather than attend in person if possible. Orange County's $1,000-grant CARES Act program will reopen its application portal on Wednesday, November 4, at 8 a.m. with a capacity for 15,000 users, it was announced yesterday at the county's news conference on the COVID-19 update.
Applicants do not need to be unemployed to qualify for the program. However, only one application is taken per household.

UPDATE: Voting is fairly slow in the Apopka area, as a noon-time informal drive-by of several precincts in the Apopka area showed there were no lines outside of the voting precincts. As of 12:40 p.m., 24,247 voters (69.13%) had cast their ballots in the Apopka City Council Seat 2 race. That number includes early voting, vote-by-mail, and today's Election Day voting totals so far. There are 35,075 registered voters in the city of Apopka.

The Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association has announced today that Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Robert Agrusa will become the trade group's new president/CEO.
He will succeed Richard J. Maladecki, who served as CFHLA’s president/CEO for almost 25 years and will retire this year.

At a ceremony onTuesday, February 2, in downtown Orlando, elected officials past and present opened a time capsule that was buried at the construction site of the Orange County Courthouse as it finished construction in 1995.
Orange County is launching its new Emergency Rental Assistance Program on March 1, which has over $33 million in federal funds to help with rent assistance for qualifying low-income residents.

101-year-old Apopka man Jose Ros received his first COVID-19 vaccination shot at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., on Friday, February 19. Ros will celebrate his 102nd birthday in June 2021.
Starting Monday, February 22, the Orange County Convention Center site will be vaccinating up to 3,000 individuals a day.

Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson wants to have Camp Wewa – currently owned by the Central Florida YMCA – under the city’s ownership by summer and have it full of campers and others utilizing the facilities on the 70-acre parcel at 221 South Binion Road in Apopka.

COVID-19 vaccines will be administered Friday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in downtown Apopka at the Apopka Community Center/VFW, 519 S. Central Avenue, Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson said Tuesday morning.
Mayor Nelson said appointments must be made and more information may be obtained by calling 407-703-1850 at City Hall. The vaccine distribution will follow the current state guidelines for the vaccine.

On Tuesday, March 9, the church formerly known as New Destiny Christian Center held a distribution where 1,320 boxes of food were given to families. Joining in the food distribution at the church was Ivanka Trump, daughter of former President Donald Trump, in her first public appearance since leaving the White House in January.
Her visit was coordinated by Todd Lamphere (pictured on the right), whose title is pastor of global outreach for City of Destiny, but who serves as chief of staff for Paula White, City of Destiny pastor.
