This week's VIRTUAL class schedule! A few important updates: For the best overall experience, NOW IS THE TIME TO DANCE (like no one's watching!) to our Cardio Dance Facebook classes!! At this time, we are no longer able to save Cardio Dance classes, so please join our AMAZING Cardio Dance Team LIVE at different times on different days of the week. Beginning September 21st, Cardio Dance will be offered on Tuesdays at 6:30pm, Wednesdays at 4:30pm, Thursdays at 9:30am, and Saturdays at 8:30am (all classes Eastern Time). #EdgeStrongWomen 🎀💪 Christine, we admire your strength. We are wishing you a speedy recovery and can't wait to have you back in the gym! "I am 50 years old and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March, a few days before the state of NJ shut down. I had a routine mammogram in early March and they saw a spot that needed to be biopsied which turned out to be cancer. It was stage 1 but it had left the tumor area and went into the lymph nodes. I had a lumpectomy in early April. No one in my family was able to go with me. My husband had to drop me off at the hospital door and then come back and pick me up at the hospital door after surgery. I started chemo at the end of May which lasted until mid-July. Again, no one could come keep me company for the 4 hours I was in chemo each time. I started radiation in Mid-August and it just ended this week! Throughout this whole process I feel very blessed for the timing. Despite the isolation during surgery and also during chemo and radiation, for me, COVID was the best time to go through all of this. Because no one else was allowed to have elective procedures/surgeries due to COVID, this sped up the pre-admission testing and surgery date. I was diagnosed and had surgery within 3 weeks. I don't think this would have happened so quickly had it not been for COVID. And when I had to stay home due to a compromised immune system, the rest of NJ was home too due to COVID. So I don't even feel like I missed out on anything for all the months I was in treatment. I feel very blessed to have had so many family and friends praying for me, bringing me care packages and sending me encouraging cards. I have recently started to get back out into the world and I am looking forward to getting back to The Edge to help regain some of my strength." -Christine M., Washington Township Edge Member

The Edge Challenge starts this week! Need some motivation to sign up? Amanda’s mantra- sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came. “Throughout my life, I have had a love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with gyms. I am an outspoken person, but put me in a gym and I was terrified, intimidated, self-conscious, and everything in between. I’d spend more time in the parking lot hyping myself up to go inside than actually working out. My distaste for the gym originated sophomore year of high school, weighing in at 310 lbs, when a classmate snapped a picture of me on the elliptical and shared it around with the caption 'whale sighting' but, nevertheless, I dreaded the gym. All of that changed when I decided to give the new gym in town a try in November 2019. Not long after I started visiting the Warwick Edge every morning, I realized, for the very first time in my life in this particular setting, I was recognized every time I walked in. I’d see the same few employees every day and their simple 'Good morning, Amanda!' made me feel so welcomed. I thought 'Okay… maybe I can do this.' I will forever be indebted to the employees and friends I met who eventually convinced me to take a BODYPUMP class that winter. Not only did I see such a wide array of people of all ages, sizes, and abilities, I completed a new and exciting workout that made me feel capable. More importantly, I felt welcome. That day changed everything. Since that day, I have become a regular in classes, personal training client, Edge Challenge participant and pushed out of my comfort zone in the best way possible. I have met the most amazing array of instructors, trainers and fellow gym-goers and I know no matter what time of day I walk in the gym, I will be greeted with the warmest welcome. In just 8 short months of personal training (and a global pandemic/shutdown), I have lost over 60 pounds, but I have gained so much more than I could have ever imagined. I gained confidence, knowledge about exercise and nutrition, a support system, friends that I consider more like family, a new set of skills, and the power to know that I am, in fact, capable of far more than I ever imagined. The Edge gave me something I never thought I’d find- a willingness to push myself harder than ever before without the fear of failure. Because of The Edge, I feel strong. I feel capable. I feel welcomed. Everything changes once you find that place where you truly belong. For me and so many others, The Edge is that place.
