To our residents and families,
As mentioned in our previous letter, routine testing frequency was subject to change. Our facility has decided to follow the recommendations made by the VP3 team, (which is the ND team leading the reopening phases for LTC). Based on the recommendations of this team, we will be changing our routine testing frequency for visitors from once a month to every other week. Our staff will continue to be tested based on our county’s positivity rate. Currently, we’re testing staff every other week but this could increase to twice weekly. Every Monday we will be notified of our county’s positivity rate and will adjust testing accordingly. Residents will not be tested routinely unless there is a positive COVID case within the facility. These changes are effective immediately.

We have started a new activity, Welcome to the Meadows Coffee Shop! Twice a month we are having special coffee socials where residents can order hot coffee, cold coffee, or cappuccino! Each time we will have different treats and more flavors to choose from!

We regret to inform you that The Meadows on University is closed to visitors effective immediately. This is due to the recent revised reopening plan for long term care facilities in North Dakota. In this revised plan, long term care facilities are not to allow in-person visits based on the county positivity rate and if there is any one case of COVID-19 at the facility, which includes residents and staff. The Meadows does not have any current positive cases of COVID-19, but due to the positivity rate in Cass County we will be proceed with stopping in-person visits as directed from CMS and the ND Department of Health.
We can accommodate Zoom, Facetime, or window visits until in-person visits can be restarted.
We understand this is tough news to take in. We want to ensure the safety of your loved ones and continue to keep them protected from the virus. Staff and residents will continue to get tested as advised by CMS and the ND Dept. of Health. We will communicate changes with visitation as it occurs.

This year for Halloween, our residents played Halloween themed games, treats, meals and had a chance to vote on Best Costume and Best Pumpkin.
The Best Pumpkin was awarded to the Nursing Department with their Wicked Witch Pumpkin!
Best Costume was a tie between our Dietary Manager, Connie and her dog Lena, with Destination Hawaii, and our DON, Amanda, with her Scarecrow costume!
