About

At The Pet Doctor, we're here to help your animals stay healthy, giving each of them individualized care to maintain their well being. When we opened our doors in 1973, our mission was simple: to give every animal the chance to have a happy and healthy life. During our long history of service, many positive changes have occurred both at The Pet Doctor and in veterinary medicine.

Our veterinarians offer a wide variety of medical, surgical and dental services. Our hospital has advanced equipment and technologies, including comprehensive in-house testing for accurate diagnosis, digital x-ray, surgical suite, dental suite, laser therapy and a pharmacy.

Everyone on our staff has a deep love for animals and is committed to providing high-quality service and care.

We are hard at work upgrading our phone system. If you have not received a response to your voicemail within 24 hours, please try calling again. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we improve our ability to serve you!
We appreciate everyone's patience as we have worked for over a week to upgrade our phone system! We are excited to announce that the phones are working now! We do still ask that you consider using alternate ways of reaching out to us for non-urgent requests and concerns, such as via email at staff@thepetdoctor.net, Facebook messenger, or through our phone app that you can download on our website: lakewoodpetdoctor.com. The reason that we are continuing to offer these alternate ways of communicating with our office is that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the veterinary industry has experienced a significant increase in demand for services. Meanwhile, following the curbside care model outlined for our industry by the AVMA and the CDC, to protect our clients and staff, involves more staff members per patient, which has caused significant delays on our phone lines. We understand that this is very frustrating, and we are sad ourselves when we are unable to meet your expectations. Please accept our apologies and know that we are doing our best to improve as quickly as we can! We appreciate your patience and understanding during this difficult time for all!
Our phone lines are currently down. If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please call Summit Veterinary Referral Center at 253-983-1114 or Blue Pearl Vet at 253-474-0791. We are very sorry for the inconvenience and will update when the problem has been resolved.
We are continuing to work on upgrading our phone system. As with many things in 2020, the process has not been as smooth as we expected. Many of our incoming and outgoing calls have failed. If you have not received a response to your voicemail within 24 hours, please try calling again. We anticipate the upgrade problems to be fully resolved by the end of business day Wednesday. If you have had difficulty reaching us, please try facebook messenger. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to improve our ability to serve you!
"Best vet I've ever had! I have 2 dogs (Baine and Chloe) and about a year ago I switch them to The Pet Doctor. Since then the pet doctor has never let me down. They care deeply about my animals and they're always there for them. Even during the pandemic I could rely on them. Very professional and they always make time for your pet if they need to. Highly recommend them." says bahar on Google BIRDEYE.COM The Pet Doctor | Lakewood, WA

Why has my veterinarian been so busy? Checkout this info graphic from VIN to learn what’s happening this year for pets, veterinary clinics, and at our very own hospital. We would also like you to know that we have made a few improvements during the past month to better serve you, including: introducing two-way-texting, upgrading our phone system, opening a 2nd pick-up window, and consolidating our office hours to provide a higher concentration of support staff to improve service times. Please note our updated hours: offering full services Monday-Friday 8-6 and limited services Saturday 9-12. We know this year has been hard for everyone and we cannot express adequately how grateful we are for all of our wonderful clients who have shown their support during this time.

***Bonded Pair Seek Furever Home-Please Share*** Frog and Hoodie were born at a cat colony in Tillicum. They were moved indoors at a young age and socialized. However, despite being posted on Petfinder.com, they have not received any interest. The kitties at this colony in Tillicum have been cared for by a very dedicated veteran. Unfortunately, these colony cats, as well as their indoor counterparts, are being evicted on April 1st. This is devastating, not just for the cats losing their homes, but for the many veterans that were benefiting from their soul-soothing presence. Ways you can help: Foster or Adopt if you can, otherwise, please share this post. There are more that need homes. Thank you! contact: Email staff@thepetdoctor.net for more information.
**Lost Pet** This pet was found by Interlaaken St in Lakewood. A Good Samaritan brought this pet into our office to scan for microchip and will be taking her directly to the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County. Please call them for further question or concerns.
