Many times I begin by saying, it’s just another beautiful normal, sunny day at The Society House...
WELL...beginning Friday, September 18th and ending Sunday September 20th, residents, in addition to daily walks, in-house PT, scrabble, camaraderie etc., totally enjoyed a 3-day spectacular Eat-Fest thanks to Chef Peter and Director Brian Mann.
Beginning on Friday evening, Chef Peter continued his international theme with the following menu:
“Caponata
Osso Buco
Creamy Polenta
Mushroom Ragu
Hand filled Cannoli with toasted pistachios”
There are no words to describe the incredible bursts of pure pleasure as
each item was served and tasted. (I hope you can appreciate and enjoy with the pictures below).

The Society House in Livingston is pleased to announce the next FREE COVID-19 and antibodies testing is set for Friday October 2, 2020 from 10 AM until Noon. There is no charge, just send a copy of your drivers license and health insurance card to info@thesocietyhouse.com by noon Thursday October 01. Refreshments will be served. We are the large brick house next to the church at 328 East Mt Pleasant Avenue, Livingston We are still 100% COVID-19 free with all our residents and staff. The Society house is accepting new residents who are COVID-19 free at this time. Contact Director Brian Mann at 973 994 1797 for more information.

One of many goals at The Society House is to ensure that residents are not only happy and enjoy every day living experiences, but to celebrate special holidays such as individual birthdays and as many other holidays as possible.
This past weekend, on Saturday, September 19th, thanks to Chef Peter, we celebrated Rosh Hashanah literally meaning "head [of] the year", which is the Jewish New Year. ... Eating symbolic foods is a tradition, such as apples dipped in honey, hoping to evoke a sweet new year.
Chef Peter created a special menu using some traditional dishes and some of his specialities and TSH Director Brian Mann helped with serving.

Every dish was unique and tasty but my favorite was the matzo ball soup and brisket. A really light delicious lemon cake added the sweetness ending this special holiday celebration. Thank you Chef Peter and Director Brian Mann for all of the time it took to create and accomplish this special celebration for residents.
At The Society House,

Why do we celebrate birthdays..A birthday is a time to celebrate birth itself. It is an expression of thanks to God for being born and still being alive. It is also an occasion to rethink your life. It is a great time to reflect on your past, evaluate your present, and make plans for your future.
At The Society House we honor all residents and staff on their special day of celebration. Our most recent celebrant is an important member of our amazing (best ever) housekeeping staff. We welcomed her as she came to work that morning with a gorgeous arrangement of apricot alstroemerias, mini yellow carnations and highlighted with a magnificent, elegant Bird of Paradise plus a card signed by all residents and staff. Needless to say there were many tears and hugs.
If you’ve visited TSH you will have noticed that everything is sparkling, in order and it’s a pleasure just to experience any of our many community or private rooms. In addition to above and beyond immaculate, TSH housekeeping is always there to see residents as the complete individual they are and help anyway they can with care and a wonderful attitude. We really do have The Best.
After a fun dinner (Director Brian Mann’s choice) of chicken & beef Super Burritos with chips, salsa, sour cream & guacamole, TSH surprised our birthday lady with a unique desert.
From Baked Boquet we ordered a “Pretty in Pink” cupcake bouquet featuring gorgeous bright pink buttercream cupcakes in authentic vanilla, chocolate, red velvet and strawberries and cream then we added a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
It was a wonderful ending to a truly Happy Birthday.
