Residents received the first look at two new respite apartments this week and the response was very positive.
“Restoring Hope” respite care services are now available. It is the perfect option for an individual recovering from an illness or minor surgery, a safe place for a loved one when a caregiver needs a break, or a senior who would like to try out the community.

The unexpected financial costs associated with COVID-19 have hurt senior living communities across the country. Join us in advocating for a change that would require insurance companies to cover the twice-weekly surveillance testing for long-term care employees.

• Providers across the state cannot bear the cost of these twice weekly mandated tests.
• The costs would be on average $100 per employee, twice per week.

Today provides for us a reason to celebrate and be reminded of our many blessings.
December 8th is Foundress Day, which honors Mother Mary Theresa Dudzik, Foundress of the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago who felt called to care for the sick, the suffering and the elderly around her. She began her religious order on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On this day, 126 years ago, a small group of Sisters came together to begin a Ministry, which lives on today through the work of Franciscan Ministries.

Today, we honor and remember the more than 2,400 Americans who were killed, as well as the 1,100 who were injured, in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor.
The attack happened 79 years ago and signaled the United States entry into WWII.
Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is recognized on Dec. 7th each year.

January is National Glaucoma Awareness Month.
More than 3 million people in the United States have glaucoma, and the National Eye Institute projects this number will reach 4.2 million by 2030.

Today is National Make a Friend Day! Norma and Shirley met at The Village at Mercy Creek a few years ago. They quickly learned they shared several common interests and have stuck by each other ever since!

For Plant-a-Flower Day we potted pansies and put them out on our courtyard to enjoy as the weather gets nicer!
Ed got a visit from a therapy dog- a poodle named Choco! He always had dogs as pets and said this brightened his day! We look forward to when the therapy dogs can provide this service to more residents!
Carol made a hole-in-one shot! She has always loved to golf and truly enjoyed getting back into the swing of things!
Another visit to a few residents from another therapy dog! This was a French bulldog named Blue! She was very sweet and comforting. The residents were just as relaxed as she was!
