🩺 Some fun vet facts! 🥼
Did you know:
1) References to veterinary medicine have been around for centuries! In fact, the first person credited with being an “expert in healing animals” was a man called Urlugaledinna in Mesopotamia in 3000 BC.
2) The first veterinary school opened in 1761 in Lyon, France. In 1806, Dr. Benjamin Rush (one of our Founding Fathers and a signer of the Declaration of Independence) started lectures at the University of Pennsylvania on “studying the diseases of domestic animals”.
3) In 1879, Iowa State University established the first public veterinary medical school in the United States.
Fun almost Thanksgiving fact:
Domestic cats arrived in North America with the pilgrims.

🐱Fun cat fact for the day 🐈
When your cat headbutts, sits near you, or shows you their stomach, it’s their way of saying “I love you.”

February also means we are celebrating Y O U with Responsible Pet Owners Month!
Responsible Pet Owners Month is a time to celebrate the pet guardians who provide responsible pet care to animals, educate the public on what responsible pet ownership looks like, and ensure the well-being of your pets remains in focus.
It’s a great time for new pet owners to make sure they’re considering all aspects of their new pet’s life and a time for existing owners to reassess their current routines.
What does responsible pet ownership mean to you? Let us know! #vcapets
February also means we are bringing awareness to Spay/Neuter Awareness Month.
February is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month - just in time to help keep Cupid’s arrow away from your pets! It is critical to prevent unwanted litters during the Spring and Summer months, as overproduction of puppies and kittens often takes place during this time, and animal shelters become overloaded.
Imagine, if just one unspayed female cat can have approximately 25 kittens in a single year, and those kittens can also have 25 kittens in a year, then that leaves shelters with an overwhelming number of cats to care for. Unfortunately, many unwanted litters are either abandoned by their owners or worse - which is why preventing overpopulation is critical in protecting cats’ and dogs’ lives.
Contact your veterinarian to schedule an appointment for your pet to answer any concerns and questions you may have with a through examination!
