It’s time again for Learning with Louee! Since rainy season is now upon us, Louee wants to make sure you all know about a nasty, zoonotic bacteria called Leptospirosis- what it is & to remind you to consider vaccinating your dog for it if you haven’t already. We worry about it here in the PNW because it’s typically caused by ingestion of urine from infected carriers like rats or raccoons (which can be found in most of our parks or own back yards). For instance, the rain puddles form and mix with said urine. Even if your dog doesn’t drink from the puddle but walks through it and licks their paws, they could potentially become infected themselves.
