Vet Med Animal Hospital October 29 at 10:42 AM · Halloween is quickly approaching, folks! And we know how much our pets love our Halloween candy, so it's important to keep in mind that chocolate, as good as it may taste, is toxic to dogs and cats. Chocolate contains high levels of the chemical theobromine which is harder for dogs and cats to digest. Dark chocolate has higher levels of theobromine, which is more dangerous for our pets than milk chocolate, though both of them can be dangerous in great amounts. During Halloween, we need to remember to keep our fury friends safe this holiday by keeping a watchful eye on the ones that might be candy lovers!
