What are you resisting? Is it fueling the thing you’re trying to avoid or actually helping you? ⁣ ⁣ I find myself in constant resistance. Resistance against my kid dawdling getting into the car, resistance against letting tears flow, or resistance towards early morning wake-ups. 🥱⁣ ⁣ When we resist, we create unnecessary tension. How can we move into a place of acceptance, acknowledgment, and being okay with momentary discomfort, knowing that it’s fleeting? ⁣ ⁣ Easier said than done, for sure. ⁣ ⁣ I hope you take some time today to munch on this brain good for a second. What are you resisting? How could you relax into those experiences and not get too caught up in the tension? ⁣ ⁣ Let us know what you think down below! 👇🏾⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #therapy #kansascity #mentalhealth #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #covid #wildhopekc

My sweet babe is one of my best teachers. ⁣ ⁣ I took this picture on Monday after my daughter got up from lunch because I thought it was a perfect example of what Intuitive Eating looks like. ⁣ ⁣ Kids are born eating intuitively. Look at how they smell, play with, and mix foods. This picture isn’t about leaving a dessert in the table because of restriction, but a lesson in what can happen when we listen to what our body wants and don’t restrict “play foods.”⁣ ⁣ I’m obsessed with Intuitive Eating because it’s not just about food - it’s about all parts of us and how we feel about those parts.⁣ ⁣ If you’re looking to start your IE journey, let me (Stevie) know! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #therapy #kansascity #mentalhealth #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #wildhopekc intuitiveeating #foodfreedom #bodyimage #bodyneutrality #bodyrespect
“Well at least...” “Yeah...but”⁣ ⁣ ^^Here is some dismissive language that is commonly used. Pretty much saying everything your say is wrong and has no value😳 yikes!⁣ ⁣ Are you being dismissive in your internal dialogue? How about in your parenting? Or with your friends and family?⁣ ⁣ Dismissive language and mentality can be sneaky. Check yourself! How can you practice Honoring your feelings and thoughts? We often tell people to "ask for what they need." I want to one up that. Ask for what you want. When it comes to making requests, especially for our mental health, we always feel the need to justify our ask. There is so much freedom in asking for what we want, without over explanation. It's okay to ask your partner, family member, or friend for something because you want your life to be happier, easier, or different. Just because you don't need it, doesn't mean you don't need it, ya know? #therapy #kansascity #mentalhealth #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #covid19

What do you love about yourself or what makes you special? These are two of my favorite questions to ask children of all ages when we work together in play therapy. Just last week I asked a 3 year old and she said “I love when I give hugs to people. I also love everything about my body.” When asking this question we are encouraging introspection as well as gaining some insight in to what some internal dialogue or self talk could sound like. What’s pretty cool is often questions we ask our kids we could also ask ourselves. So today think...🤔 what do I love about myself? #bettertogether #womenshealth #therapy #kansascity #mental health #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #wildhopekc
Colliding of Space Right now the reality for so many is our work, home, gym, entertainment environment is all the same physical location. In the last couple of weeks I have seen some themes in working with clients about how our environment, which is where we spend every waking moment has had huge impacts on our mood or is it we can tell our shifts in mood by what our environment looks and feels like? ( No wrong answer here😏) What are things that help you “spice up” or feel accomplished in your work/home/ gym/etc? Here are a couple of examples: 🛏Make my bed in the morning. 👗Dressed before kids are up. ☕️Have a special creamer for your coffee. 💐I bought myself flowers the first day I ever worked in my office. Today I bought flowers for myself to start the first day of the New Year in my office. #bettertogether #womenshealth #therapy #kansascity #mental health #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #wildhopekc
| k i n d n e s s | I think we could all use a little kindness sprinkled into 2020. I (Maureen) have been making en effort to teach my children about kindness. And in doing this I have found it to be a very therapeutic exercise for myself. It’s been harder than I thought finding ways to explain to a 2 and 3 year old what kindness is, what it looks like, how it feels and how we can show kindness. In my reflection of kindness. I have realized that sometimes we make things much more complex in our minds than they are (anyone relate?), kindness can be simplistically beautiful and oh how our world needs more of it. Things to think about: 1. How can you show kindness to yourself, your family, your friends? 2.How would you explain kindness to a 2 year old? #bettertogether #womenshealth #therapy #kansascity #mental health #kansascitycounselors #anxiety #depression #postpartum #wildhope #postpartumanxietyawareness #postpartumdepressionawareness #wellness #motherhood #motherhoodmentalhealth #wildhopekc
Giving Tuesday!! @wellcorept and I are excited to announce that all sales made on the Pandemic Playbook today will be donated to Healing House KC. @healinghouseinc was founded to provide transitional housing for women who had completed inpatient substance abuse treatment. Since it’s founding, Healing House, Inc. has markedly expanded its scale and reach. Healing House has purchased and refurbished numerous vacant homes – several of which were former drug houses – into safe, sober homes for both men and women. 100% of our sales today (through noon tomorrow) will go to support Healing House. I you would like to donate without purchasing a playbook ($50) you can also donate to Bethany's venmo @bethanypeterson22. Every little bit helps! Donate as little as $1, $2, or $3! Our goal is to be able to sponsor an Angel for $100. Link in bio to purchase the playbook!
