It’s #NationalWomensEqualityDay. On this day in 1920, most women were granted the ability to exercise their voting rights freely. While we shine a light on this day, let’s also highlight a couple women who have made notable successions in the field of optometry:
In 1911, well before voting rights were in place, Dr. D. Elva Cooper became the first women vice president of the AOA >> In 1920, within the same year of the 19th Amendment, Dr. Mae Booth-Jones became the first female president of an optometry school, The Washington School of Optometry.

Give your eyes a break. Close your laptop time after time, for a minute or two-- Or grab some blue light blocking lenses!
We can customize any style of frame and lens prescription with blue light blocking technology.

When you @Google "Inventor of contact lenses", two people pop up… Adolf Gaston Eugen Fick and Otto Wichterle. While Dr. Fick is often recognized for the discovery of contact lenses in the 1800s, they were made from glass and quite uncomfortable. Fast forward to 1958 when Otto, a chemist, developed the first soft lens and granted all the details to Bausch and Lomb in 1960. And the rest... is history. #InventorsDay

You can see clearly once the Ray's are on.
You may be surprised to hear this-- and it is something to remember! If any chemical, like a household cleaning supply, gets into your eye, avoid general eye drops to help soothe. Instead, use lukewarm tap water or contact lens saline rinse, and don't hesitate to seek emergency medical assistance!
Carrots give you amazing eyesight, especially at night. Fact or Fiction? This idea was planted during WWII and it is true-- to a certain extent. While carrots are filled with vitamins and antioxidants to help you #maintain eyesight they do not actually #improve your vision or help you see in the dark. Eat them anyway!
