Dear Clients, We are writing to inform you that a member of our team has tested positive for COVID-19 and the Influenza virus. In light of this positive COVID-19 case the Department of Health has reviewed our current operations, which include curbside services, additional cleaning and sanitation, and all staff members wearing masks at all times. The Department of Health has determined that the policies and procedures by which we are operating are in line with CDC recommendations and therefore carry a low risk to the public. In order to continue to provide care to our patients and protect our clients and staff, we are asking that anyone on Willow Run Veterinary Clinic property please wear a mask. This includes while waiting in your car and interacting with staff in the parking lot. We will continue to provide curbside service at this time in an effort to keep everyone safe. If you are uncomfortable with keeping a scheduled appointment please give us a call and we will be happy to reschedule your pet’s appointment. In the event that one of our clients needs to enter the building for end of life services we will try to maintain a social distance of six feet and limit client and staff contact time to less than fifteen minutes. As always, we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through these trying circumstances. Our clients have been amazingly positive and supportive over these last few months. The Doctors and Staff of Willow Run Veterinary Clinic

Willow Run Family, We are updating you on our operating status as a result of necessary adjustments secondary to staff limitations. Quarantine and illness has resulted in continued restrictions to hours and staff availability. As a result, we will be temporarily closing for appointments from Thursday, October 22nd through Tuesday, October 27th and will be reevaluating our status at that time. We will be reaching out to appointments scheduled during this period, but please call the office if your scheduled appointment is affected. Be advised if you have an emergency we are recommending PETS Emergency and Referral Hospital at (717) 295-7387. Please understand that this is being done as a last resort, to ensure that we have a healthy staff to be able to continue to see appointments as soon as possible. Our phones will be available during our modified business hours (8am to 4pm) to help with prescription refills and appointment rescheduling. We deeply appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time. Be safe, we will continue to keep you updated on our timeline as it becomes clear. The Doctors and Staff of Willow Run

Willow Run Family, We apologize for the frequent updates regarding our upcoming operations, but want to be sure that everyone has up to date information regarding appointment scheduling and availability. We are continuing to follow Department of Health guidelines for testing and isolation for employees at risk or who have exhibited symptoms of Covid-19. As a result, our staffing has been decreased to help prevent further spread of this illness. The health and safety of our team and clients continues to be our priority, and we are making changes to ensure that we are available even in limited capacity for your pet's needs. As a result, we will be available tomorrow October 19th from 8am - 6pm. For October 20th - October 31st, our hours will be 8am - 4pm. We will be limiting appointments to emergency and sick examinations, and will be in touch with routine appointments to discuss rescheduling. We appreciate all the support and understanding during this difficult time as we balance the health of our staff, their families, and our desire to continue to provide care to your loved ones. Thank you for your continued understanding and patience, The Doctors and Staff of Willow Run

Willow Run Family, We recently updated you regarding a staff member that has tested positive for Covid-19. Working with the Department of Health, we have been able to identify and isolate individuals that have tested positive or who may have had close contact with our quarantined staff member. Please note that individual health information, including the name of the staff member that is ill, is confidential to protect patient privacy. Due to the contagious nature of this disease, we are preparing for the possibility of further confirmed cases over the next few weeks. We are hopeful for swift recoveries for our Willow Run family members. We have remained in contact with the Department of Health to ensure that we are continuing to follow all guidelines and recommendations to protect our staff and clients. Over the next few weeks we will be operating with limited staff and appointment hours. While we understand that this may cause some frustration as appointments have been limited with curbside protocols, please understand that we are managing the dual responsibility of protecting human health and being available for your pets. At this point in time, appointments from October 19th – October 31st will be offered from 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday and 9-11:30am on Saturdays. We will be reaching out to routine appointments over the next few days to reschedule if your appointment is affected by these changes. We are making the necessary adjustments to ensure that we are able to continue to see our patients in every capacity and offer the same level of care that you have come to know and expect. We appreciate your patience as we work to safely and responsibly navigate this new development. Thank you for all of your understanding and support, The Doctors and Staff of Willow Run

Good Evening Willow Run Families, We hope everyone was able to remain safe after the winter storm, it definitely feels like winter now. Just a reminder that we will be closing at 2pm tomorrow (Friday, December 18th) for our holiday party. Should your pet require medical attention outside of our modified hours, please contact PETS at 717-295-7387. As part of our holiday tradition, our doctors and staff will be competing in our Ugliest Christmas Sweater contest. Our team members will be rocking these fashion faux pas tomorrow and we will be posting pictures to Facebook. To make this contest a success - we need your help! Please be sure to visit our page and “like” your favorite. Just as we did in 2019, we will have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner! Voting will take place Friday, December 18th thru Monday, December 21st. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 22nd. We continue to receive notifications from our prescription diet manufacturers regarding backordered products. As the demand for UPS and FedEx has increased due to the holiday season, these companies are now experiencing longer delivery times. These changes have impacted the Royal Canin diets the most significantly. We apologize for the inconvenience and share your frustration when we experience difficulty in stocking these diets. We will continue to place our orders weekly, and notify our clients of products that are delayed or on backorder. Doctors and Staff of WRVC
THANK YOU to all of you who recently adopted a pet and gave them a forever home. The holiday season is a wonderful time for a new addition to the family. We can’t wait to meet them!

Good Morning Willow Run Families, Our service technician has said that the phone problems we were encountering have been fixed. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Good Morning Willow Run Families, Our service technician has determined that the issues we are encountering may take a few hours to repair. As opposed to have these issues continue through Saturday afternoon when the office closes, allowing the repair to happen immediately is the most efficient way to achieve a permanent fix. As mentioned in our previous post, calls will be forwarded to a single cell phone, so you may encounter a busy signal when calling in. If at all possible, please text the office when arriving for an appointment or when picking up food or medication. If you are unable to text, and have arrived, please knock on our exit door and a member of our staff will assist you. Again, we ask that all clients wear a mask when on WRVC property. At this time, the approximate time that our phone system will be back online is 9:15am. If the repair is expected to take longer we will communicate this information as quickly as possible. We will send a final post once the repair is complete and the phones are working properly. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Doctors and Staff
Good Evening Willow Run Families, We are experiencing problems with our phone system which is impacting our ability to make and receive calls, as well as our internet; we apologize for this inconvenience. Our service provider was contacted this morning and despite a service call from a technician earlier today, the problem persists. We will be receiving another service call tomorrow between the hours of 8am - 10am, the provider was unable to send a technician back today. For the moment our phones are working, and if need be we have the ability to forward calls to a single cell phone, but this will significantly limit the number of incoming calls we can receive at one time. For this reason, you may encounter a busy signal when calling. Our text app will still be available, and while we typically use this service when checking in for an appointment only, we encourage anyone arriving to pick up food or medications to utilize this service if at all possible. You will receive a text message indicating that your text has been received within a few minutes. If you are unable to text or to reach the office when calling, please knock on our exit door and a member of our staff will assist you. As a reminder, all doctors, clients, and staff are asked to wear a mask when on WRVC property. These issues have been very frustrating to us, and we realize that it has been even more so for our clients. Technology is a wonderful thing when it works, but it is a huge disruption when we are at the mercy of our provider. Again, we sincerely apologize for the difficulties that you many encountered when calling or receiving calls from the office today. We are doing our best to have the problems resolved as quickly as possible. The Doctors and Staff
Due to a Comcast issue outside of our control, we are experiencing technical issues with our phone system. We apologize for this inconvenience and recognize that this issue complicates the procedures we have put in place regarding appropriate response to the COVID 19 outbreak. Please continue to text in when you arrive to the office. Please continue to check Facebook for updates. Thanks you, The Doctors and Staff

Willow Run Clients, Many of you may have recently been made aware of an article detailing the adverse effects of a non-prescription flea and tick collar called Seresto. This article highlights the number of adverse events reported to the EPA, who tracks these potential events, without the input of experts to substantiate their relevance. We want to provide all of you with the information needed to make decisions that are best for you and for your pet. The Environmental Protection Agency tracks potential negative effects of topical parasiticides, meaning those that are not absorbed into a pet’s system and remain on the surface of the skin. When these events are reported, the EPA keeps record of them regardless of whether the product can be causally linked to the adverse effect. This means that for a product that is worn for 8 months, these adverse events may have occurred while the pet was wearing the collar without being caused by the product itself. The active ingredients in these products have been studied extensively to ensure their efficacy and safety. While we do not currently carry Seresto for dogs at Willow Run, it is important to ensure that you are purchasing flea and tick products from trusted sources. In recent years, counterfeit products have been reported regularly from large online pharmacies and retailers who purchase large volumes from varying sources. These counterfeit products may account for a substantial portion of these adverse events. There are many products available for flea and tick prevention, so it is important to discuss what product might be the best for your pet(s) with your veterinarian. Flea and tick infestation can cause serious disease, so prevention is important to keep your pets safe and healthy. Seresto is manufactured by Elanco Animal Health, their customer service line can be reached at 1 (877) 352-6261 to answer any questions. As pet owners who are making the same product decisions for our family members, we will continue to carry and recommend flea and tick products that are appropriate and safe for your pets at home.
