Sweet Stormy came in to see Dr. Blackford for her torn ACL. Stormy recently lost her housemate, and mom told us she needed her duck to help her get through the day. She was snuggled by her duck all day, and she came through TPLO surgery like a champion! Everyone please help me wish Stormy a speedy recovery. ❤️
Jaeger has the most perfect nose to “BOOP!” Jaeger came to see us for TPLO surgery to repair his knee. The TPLO surgery is one of our most common surgeries, and one that has a very high success rate. If you, or someone you know, are curious about how this surgery is performed, you can visit our website (www.blackfordvetsurgery.com) and review the videos in our media library. The videos go over the surgery, recovery, as well as helpful tips for recovery. We wish you a speedy recovery, Jaeger! And thank you for being such a wonderful patient! 🥰
Sweet Max is such an awesome dog. He had to have his luxating patellas fixed after his initial consultation with us. He is probably THE softest dog we have ever pet! The evening of his surgery he went home with one of our surgical nurses so she could keep an extra close eye on him. She reported that he fell asleep in his blanket while snoring. 😴 You’re the best boy, Max! ❤️❤️
If you look closely, Ianto had to have a lamb chop toy and his Daddy (one of our medical staff members) to help him brave his bandage change! ❤️❤️
It’s a family affair in the OR! Dr. Callie Blackford was performing a shoulder arthroscopy on Friday, and her dad, Dr. Jim Blackford came by special to scrub into the surgery to assist her. Dr. LeeAnn Blackford performed a TPLO surgery on the other table. We just had to capture the three of them doing what they do best: helping each other and animals! ❤️❤️
Look at this sweet girl, Ellie! Dr. Callie did a ventral approach to the FHO surgery to fix Ellie’s hip. This is a video of Ellie walking on her leg, the day after surgery!! We wish you a speedy recovery, Ellie!! Thank you for being such a good girl. 🥰
Casey is an 11 year old lab that had her ACL repaired last week. She is a happy girl, and she really loved snuggling under her snowflake blanket! Thank you for being such an awesome patient, Casey. We wish you a speedy recovery!! ❤️❤️
Toes up AND tongue out Tuesday if you had surgery on both of your knees and are starting to feel like like a new pup!! 🥰
Annie came to visit!! She was an incredibly special patient that spent a lot of time with us. She had knee surgery by Dr. Hodshon, and she spent a good bit of time with Erin doing rehab. On Friday, she stopped by to show us how far she has come and prove how much we still love her!! Thank you so much for the visit, Annie. It’s amazing how one little dog can bring so many people together. ❤️
Cocoa’s mom reports his second side TPLO surgery recovery is going great. He has his comfy small area, some peanut butter bones to keep him busy, and loves going on his daily walks! Mom reports that his energy is increasing so much, and she is so thrilled that he will be able to run free without pain soon. You’re a good boy, Cocoa! And your momma is doing a GREAT job of being your care taker!!
That time when your boss came into work dressed as a giant panda.....! 😂 We want to wish everyone a happy and safe Howloween!! We’d LOVE to see your furry kiddos dressed up!! 🎃 🐶 🍁
In an ideal world, after surgery, your pet would wear a cone or e-collar for at least two weeks. Although it is annoying, that is imperative to the success of surgery! If your baby licks their incision, they can cause an infection, open their incision, or worse. However, not every dog tolerates the cone. Zoi’s mom made her special pants to make sure she wouldn’t lick her incision!! Well done mom!!
Do you remember Ellie? She was the cat that had a ventral approach to her FHO surgery by Dr. Callie Blackford. She is two weeks post up, and sent us some fabulous updates! She’s doing wonderful!! You’re such a good girl, Ellie!!
⭐️ PUPDATE ALERT! ⭐️ Piper came in to see Dr. Hodshon 2 weeks ago for his TPLO surgery. Mom reports him to be behaving like a gentleman, and he is staying confined like a good boy. He is thinking of all the fun activities he can do in 6 weeks once he’s healed!! You’re adorable, Piper! Thank you for being such a good boy!! ❤️
This sweet and energetic girl is Edge! Her and her dad make up one heck of a hunting team. However, Edge had to come see Dr. Hodshon for TPLO surgery. After her 8 week recovery period, she will start conditioning again to return to the field! She is a happy and sweet girl, with plenty of energy! Thank you for being such a good patient, Edge!!
Dr. Callie Blackford brought over her sweet little Blakelee to visit Dr. LeeAnn Blackford (Grammy!) She is the sweetest little girl! Thanks for letting us squeeze those precious little cheeks!! 🥰🥰
Oscar came back in for Dr. Hodshon to make sure his nose job (rhinoplasty) went well. And, it sure did! He had a suture that we snipped, and he sounds wonderful with his new nose! Thanks for the visit Oscar! ❤️❤️
Our surgical check list includes, but is not limited to: Confirm surgical leg ✅ Catheter supplies ✅ ET Tubes ✅ Monitoring equipment ✅ Emergency drug sheet ✅ Nail trim ✅ 🐾 LOVE AND SNUGGLES 🐾 ✅ Thanks for letting us snuggle you Ellie! She came in for Dr. Blackford to fix her torn ACL. She was an absolutely perfect patient!
Hi everyone! I’m Denver! I went to see Dr. Blackford to have TPLO surgery this week! I am happy, and cute, and lovable, and precious! My parents only have my cone off right now because they’re watching me, but otherwise I have a cone/satellite dish on my head. And I’m okay with that! Because if I wear it like a good boy for 2 weeks, I get to have it off! Woohoo! Thanks for fixing my knee, Dr. Blackford! That’s all for now! Love, Denver 🐾 ❤️
