Our client of the Month!
•
Congratulations to Priyanka for being named September’s Client of the Month! She has been working so hard over the last few months, and with the help from her trainer, Julie, she dropped 20lbs and a total of 12 inches! She even increased her VO2Max by 10 points and decreased her resting heart rate by 9bpm!!
Way to go Priyanka!!🥳🥳
Hip extension is critical for producing power! The band is used to reinforce hip extension while jumping. Doing this gives us the ability to recruit more of the muscles of the hip to train for a higher vertical jump!
Our Athlete for the month of September is PJ!!
-
He has come back to Chadwick's with vengeance! He returned with a major shoulder injury and pain during his initial FMS screen. He has recovered and has increased his FMS score from a 10 to a 17 PAIN FREE!! 👏👏
-
In addition to that, PJ has improved his:
-vertical jump from 21" to 23"
-broad jump from 84.5" to 93"
-5-10-5 pro agility from 5.1s to 4.86s
-10 yard dash from 1.85s to 1.79s
-30 yard dash from 4.15s to 4.10s
•
Not only has PJ improved within the walls of Chadwick's, he has shown progress on the field. He increased his exit velocity of the baseball off the bat from 87mph to 91mph!! 🤯
Way to go PJ! Hard work pays off!!💪💪
Meet our new trainer!!
Many of you may have seen Beka around the gym! She has recently joined our training team as a ACSM certified personal trainer. She has a passion for helping people succeed and leading people to believe in their worth.
Beka attended East Tennessee State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science. There she competed with the track and field team as a high jumper and 400 meter sprinter. During her time at ETSU, she also worked as an intern with the athletic training staff which provides services to the Olympic Training Site on campus.
She already feels at home at Chadwick's and is excited to join the family!
Here is Major and his client Parker demonstrating the uses of a PVC Pipe (PVC) when teaching sprint mechanics.
⠀
The primary goal here with the PVC is to reduce motion from the arms, while placing a greater challenge on the trunk with the emphasis of reducing rotation as much as possible.
The position of the arms allows for a decent amount of tension to be placed down into the PVC, which allows the trunk to help stabilize and reduce rotation via the lat muscles.
⠀
The goal in sprinting is to move as fast as possible from point A to point B, making it important to teach the athlete how to sprint as fast as possible while limiting rotation thought the trunk.
We are so thankful to work with the @survivorfitnessfoundation because it allows us to play a small part in a cancer survivors story.
Today we said goodbye to one of our Chadwick’s family members, Erin Denbo. If you knew Erin, you remembered her smile, contagious positive attitude, hard work and joy. We are so glad to be apart of her last five years battling cancer but we are more thankful to be shown how to live life every single day and not take it for granted. Whether that is working hard for a Spartan Race or bringing your trainers gifts for their florida trip- never miss the joys of today.
Erin, you will be missed but you will forever be apart of our Chadwicks family and for that, we are grateful 🤍🤍 @ Chadwick's Personal Fitness
We’re selling a few things!!

Check out Liz McClain an ultra trail runner working through a hurdle drill with our trainer David!
Trail runners have a tendency to take short choppy steps that hinders their ability to run fast when the trail becomes less technical!
This drill enforces the high knee drive that is needed to reduce the choppy steps we often see. This drill also sets up for proper stride when a forward lean is added after hurdles are cleared.
Awesome work Liz!! 🏃🏼♀️💨

Here is our trainer Julie in a small group session with Sarah and Liza, demonstrating the uses of pairing balance squares and band work in sports performance training!
These band exercises are great for strengthening the hips, glutes, and quads. Since basketball players are regularly wearing ankle braces for injury prevention, they typically have very weak ankles compared to their other lower body joints. Doing these exercises on the balance squares helps increase strength/stability in the ankles which are often neglected!
Way to work Sarah and Liza!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Chadwick’s family wanted to shine a spotlight on one of our members, a cancer survivor, Emily Demers.
Emily was diagnosed with stage 2B invasive Breast Cancer in August 2017 at age 33. With no family history of breast cancer in her family this diagnosis came as a shock. After receiving this devastating news she quickly dove into treatment, which included chemotherapy and many surgical procedures. It has been a long road to recovery for Emily, but we are happy to say as of 2019 when she underwent her last operation and she is cancer free!
The most important things that helped her heal are her faith, the loving community of friends and family that she is so fortunate to have, and the decision she made each and everyday to keep moving and working towards a healthier life physically, mentally, and emotionally. “It truly helped to keep putting one foot in front of the other. It was by no means easy, but I believe it did help my body fight and ultimately heal.”
To continue her journey back to health, Emily found herself at a faithfully.restored.women event. Here is where she learned about the Survivor Fitness Foundation that directed her to Chadwick’s and her trainer Juile. While Emily was apprehensive and did not know where to begin with the new body that cancer had left her with, she was ready to push herself further physically and mentally. “Juile has been such a gift and has been the perfect person to encourage and challenge me.” Emily said, “She’s helped me learn the limitations of my body, but has also taught me how to push myself further despite my body’s limitations.”
When entering the training program, she had a lot of joint pain as a result of the chemo-therapy and hormonal changes from treatment. “Julie and Erin had helped me push through those limitations and come out stronger” With their help over the last 12 weeks Emily has graduated from her Survivor Fitness program and made the decision to continue her training with Chadwick’s.
Since her diagnosis in 2017 Emily had learned to roll with punches and take on life one day at a time. She encourages others to trust their gut and do their best to live in the moment as she has learned to do. “What people don’t tell you the day you are diagnosed, is that you were just involuntarily enrolled in a crash course in cancer. You are immediately flooded with questions and decisions to make that your life literally depends on. It is all so incredibly overwhelming” In times like this she found trusting her gut and relying on her faith was the best course of action.
Emily would like to say a special thank you to her Nurse Navigator, Cary Ralph. She would not be where she is today without her, “She entered into the darkest days of my life at the time of diagnosis and held my hand and dried my tears through every step of the journey, and she continues to do so.”
Emily, the Chadwick’s family is so incredibly proud of you and grateful we have been able to help you throughout your recovery and journey back to health. You are a true fighter and we are thankful to have your smiling face in the gym every week!
Julie has been having lower back pain 🤕

We found her right QL overworking and lumbar erectors under working! We released the right QL and gave her exercises to release on her own with a ball. Pain instantly got better! 🙌
⚠️Client of the Month⚠️
Our October client of the month is Bill! He’s been working hard over the last few months! These photos 4 months apart! During that time he’s added on a total of 9 inches and increased his FMS score!
Way to work Bill!! 💪💪
Find strength within stability.
When doing broad jumps with a bungee cord, we are working on acceleration! This exercise helps an athlete get a quicker first step into their sprint. The main points of focus here are:
- a quick take-off
- safe, balanced landing
After those two aspects are achieved, then we will focus on greater distance with each jump.

Why do you train?
•
When you’re setting your goals for the New Year ask yourself why. Write it down. Place it somewhere where you’ll see it everyday.
•
When things get tough and you’re lacking motivation remind yourself why you’re making the effort. You’re not going to be motivated everyday, so be discipline.
•
Tell us your why.
Elevate your performance with Chadwick’s
