Christopher Mascarenhas MD, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery. He has trained in all aspects of colon and rectal surgery. With a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, and robotic colorectal surgery . He routinely uses these techniques for a variety of different conditions.Dr. Mascarenhas has also completed advanced training in complex re-operative surgery for advanced inflammatory bowel disease, which includes ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. He has performed a high volume of surgeries on patients with IBD, many of whom require creation of a pouch following removal of the colon, rectum, or anus. He has a special interest in transanal minimally-invasive and transanal total mesorectal excision surgery techniques as well.Dr. Mascarenhas, sees patients at his main office at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia, 161 Fort Washington Avenue, 8th floor, in Manhattan. In addition to seeing patients and operating at our Main Campus, he will be available to see patients at the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery’s Hudson Valley, New York and Englewood, New Jersey offices to expand the Division’s colorectal expertise at these locations.
