ATTENTION CLIENTS, as veterinary medical services are an essential-services business, HEAL will be making every effort to remain open as usual in support of our clients, patients and employees. We are changing to an altered appointment structure as follows:
All appointments with HEAL are now to be checked into the hospital via telephone communication only. All pet owners are asked to remain in their vehicles.
We will come gather your pet from your vehicle and bring them into the hospital for care and treatment. We will return them to you once treatments are completed. All communications regarding your pet’s care will occur only by phone or telemedicine video. Any communication or contact occurring within 6 feet can only occur if our employee is wearing a mask** for protection.
Upon arrival to the hospital, please park in the front or back parking lot and call 214-329-9454 to let us know you are present and ready to begin the check in process for your pet’s appointment. If you do not have a phone, please ring the bell near the front door for assistance.
Once a team member has completed the check-in communications with you via phone, we will come to your car wearing a mask. Please be ready to hand your pet off to us so we can observe “social distancing” rules and reduce any fearful reaction from your pet (due to the presence of a mask).
We will additionally bring your pet to your car after a discharge phone call has occurred.
Payments for services can be made via the phone or checks/ cash collected at time of discharge.
If you have a pet with special behavior considerations, please discuss your concerns with us prior to booking your pet's appointment.
Please bear with us during this trying time.
** We mean a medial mask, not as pictured
October 14th kicks off National Pet Obesity Awareness Day! Did you know that about 60% of our pets in the US are overweight? As veterinary professionals, we must educate and guide our clients to make healthy choices for their pets.
🎉Keep up the good work, Abraham!🎉
At the start of each month, we like to look back on the new members we added to the HEAL family! Below are just a few of the cute faces we see every week. Let’s make September an awesome month filled with Health, Enrichment, Advocacy, Longevity, and lots of treats!🎉
Boi first presented for pain in his left thoracic limb back in June. Dr. Gaines was able to deduce from radiographs and a biopsy sample that Boi had an Osteosarcoma. The owners elected to amputate Boi’s limb to give him a greater chance of living out his life relatively pain-free. 🎉 Boi is GLOWING for his 1 Month Post-Op Check In!🎉
🔍Do you see what I see?🔎 We are starting a new series to illuminate common ailments that we see and treat at HEAL. Comment below if your pet has presented similar signs of Front Limb Lameness and we will help guide you to your next steps!
Several studies have shown a positive correlation between an increase in body weight and an imbalance in the gut microbiome. 🧬 What is a Microbiome? 🔬It is your pet’s gut digestive system that is responsible for breaking down the food for nutrition and energy with the help from healthy bacteria. An unbalanced microbiome can cause diarrhea, skin issues, a weakened immune system, and ‼️WEIGHT ISSUES‼️. Per AnimalBiome, “Specific gut bacteria can signal your pet’s body to either speed up or slow down their metabolism. Overweight pets tend to have certain characteristic elements of their gut biome that may make them more prone to weight gain. Keeping a healthy and balanced distribution of gut bacteria can help protect your pet against weight gain”.

Walter the Irish Wolfhound has been kicking cancer’s butt!🎉 The end of 2020 couldn’t have been sweeter than Walter finishing his last chemotherapy treatment that was formulated by Animal Diagnostic Clinic.👨⚕️ Back in June, Walter was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, which resulted in his right hind limb being amputated. But Walter and his mom stayed in good spirits and enrolled Walter into a customized rehabilitation therapy program here at HEAL. Walter comes to HEAL weekly for a combination of therapeutic exercises, massage therapy, and hydrotherapy. Keep up the good work!🎉
Happy Holidays! We hope seeing a few of our furry patients can warm your spirits. ❤️🎄
