Jay B. Patel, MD, a native of Indiana, completed his medical school education and general surgery training at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He then pursued a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Patel has experience in the following areas: valvular degeneration and arrhythmia surgery, conventional coronary artery bypass grafting as well as "beating heart" transcatheter aortic valve replacement, thoracic endovascular aortic repair, ventricular assist device, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, lung and esophageal cancer, gastroesophageal reflux surgery, tracheobronchial disease, lung and heart transplant and robotic heart and lung surgery. Along with his experience within cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Patel is also board certified in general surgery.
Dr. Patel has been involved in both clinical and basic science research; his work has been published in many peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Patel is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
