Dr. Michael J. Waxman is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. He is currently medical director of Research Medical Center's Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit. In addition to his work in critical care, Dr. Waxman also specializes in bronchoscopic interventional therapy. He is affiliated with the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, and the American College of Chest Physicians, among other professional organizations. Dr. Waxman served in the US Air Force at USAF Medical Center Scott, the pulmonary center of the Air Force, and a year on staff at Washington University. He graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he also completed an internal medicine residency and a pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship.
