Dr. Rebecca S. Ahdoot is a general nephrologist who practices in the downtown Los Angeles office. Her clinical interests include acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension/high blood pressure, kidney stones, electrolyte abnormalities and dialysis. She is dedicated to educating patients and explaining medical information so that they may participate as partners in their healthcare. As a certified medical Spanish speaker, she is able to communicate directly with Spanish speaking patients, strengthening these relationships by providing culturally responsive care.
Interested in human development and interactions and understanding its importance in delivering compassionate medical care, Dr. Ahdoot earned her bachelor�s degree in sociology from UCLA, graduating with Latin Honors. She earned her medical degree from UC Irvine and completed her internal medicine residency training at Kaiser Permanente - Los Angeles Medical Center. She then participated in the esteemed UCLA Kennamer & Kaiser Permanente Primary Care/Community Medicine Fellowship, which focuses on healthcare policy, patient advocacy and primary care, and completed her nephrology training in a joint Kaiser Permanente & Cedars-Sinai program. She is double board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Dr. Ahdoot is passionate about service and outreach. She previously provided free or low cost primary care services to underserved Los Angeles communities and created a comprehensive health education program at the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic. She also founded a bi-annual health fair to address the lack of affordable and timely vision and hearing services available to low-income patients, and has volunteered in Guatemala with the HELPS International Group Medical Mission.
When she is not working, Dr. Ahdoot enjoys yoga, boxing, gardening, arts/crafts and traveling.
