Dr. Robert Baer is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in trauma and fracture care; he sees patients in both our Fort Collins and Loveland, CO, offices.
Dr. Baer and Dr. Michael Rusnak are our trauma and fracture specialists.
Dr. Baer joined the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies in 2006.
He holds board certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Baer completed advanced (fellowship) training in orthopaedic trauma through a partnership between Saint Anthony’s Central Hospital in Denver and Panorama Orthopaedics. Fellowship programs provide an additional, sixth year of orthopaedic surgery following the completion of a residency program.
Dr. Baer completed his residency program at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan.
He takes care of patients from OCR’s service area of northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska.
Dr. Baer is currently working on an orthopaedic research project to assess the performance of an implant to replace damaged bone in the forearm. The implant is made of pyrocarbon, a form of carbon similar to graphite that is known for its durability. Several other physicians at OCR are also participating in this research, which has been approved by the University of Colorado Health (Poudre Valley Health System) Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Dr. Baer’s interests outside of medicine include spending time with his family and skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, coaching high school lacrosse, auto mechanics and restoration.
