Dr. Higgins serves as the Vice President and Regional Executive Medical Director of the New York Presbyterian Medical Group in Hudson Valley and Westchester. Prior to this, he served as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital since 2011. Over the years, Dr. Higgins has been active on many committees including Peer Review, Credentialing, Bylaws, Ethics and others.
Apart from his administrative duties, Dr. Higgins has maintained a thriving medical practice with his wife, Ellen, a Nurse Practitioner in the NYPMG, for 26 years. He was a clinical preceptor at New York Medical College in Valhalla.
Dr. Higgins is well respected in Hudson Valley’s senior community and was appointed by the Governor of the State of New York to sit on New York State Coordinating Council for Services Related to Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias. He is a past director of the Hudson Valley region of the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dr. Higgins obtained his Medical Degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine and did his residency and fellowship training at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He completed his MBA at UMASS-Amherst and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
