Amy Tilara, M.D.
Amy Tilara, M.D. is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, and has been in practice in New Jersey for over four years.
Dr. Tilara was raised in Roseland, NJ. She graduated with honors after completing an 8 year combined undergraduate and medical program with The George Washington University School of Medicine. While in her third year of medical school, she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor society and graduated at the top of her class. Dr. Tilara then went on to complete her medical residency at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York. She stayed in New York to complete her gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein Medical Center. Dr. Tilara also completed an additional year of training at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York specializing in advanced therapeutic endoscopy.
Before joining the Group, Dr. Tilara was Director of Endoscopic Ultrasound at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Tilara treats all aspects of general gastroenterology and hepatology including performing colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. She also has additional expertise in advanced procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound with biopsy, endoluminal stenting, Barrett’s esophagus, endoscopic mucosal resection and pancreatic and biliary disease related procedures such as ERCP, celiac plexus block and pancreatic fluid drainage procedures. Her particular interest is in premalignant diseases such as pancreatic cystic lesions and Barrett’s esophagus. She also has an interest in gastrointestinal oncology, with providing diagnosis and/or palliation for cancer patients.
As an active member of multiple Gastroenterology societies, she has co-authored numerous articles for major GI journals and has been an active committee member for the ASGE. Dr. Tilara has also presented numerous abstracts at national GI conferences. Dr. Tilara currently lives in the area with her husband and two children.
