Michael R. Tendler, M.D.
MICHAEL R. TENDLER, M.D. is Board Certified in Gastroenterology, and is trained in general gastroenterology (digestive diseases) as well as hepatology (liver diseases). He has been in practice in Monmouth County for over 22 years.
A native of New Jersey, Dr. Tendler graduated with honors from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He returned to New Jersey to pursue his medical education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (New Brunswick), where he received his Doctorate of Medicine. He then completed his internship in internal medicine at New York University (NYU), and then spent the next year doing research at Columbia University/College of Physicians and Surgeons. After at which time Dr. Tendler completed his medical residency at The New York Hospital/ Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Tendler entered private practice after completing his Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship at University Hospital of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Newark. He treats all aspects of gastroenterology (digestive diseases) and hepatology (liver diseases), including but not limited to Colon Cancer screening, Heartburn/GERD, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis, as well as expert experience in Colonoscopy and Upper Endoscopy. Additionally, Dr. Tendler is one of the most experienced physicians in Monmouth County performing in-office Wireless Capsule Endoscopies (to diagnose diseases in the small intestine).
Dr. Tendler held the distinguished position as the Chief of Gastroenterology for 5 years at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold. He is consistently listed in Castle-Connolly’s compilation of top physicians, receives “Patient Choice” awards and has been included annually in the N.Y. Metro Area Top Doctor’s roster. He prides himself on delivering excellent quality medical care and is a strong advocate for colon cancer screening as a successful method for early detection of colon cancer.
Dr. Tendler currently resides in Manalapan, N.J. with his wife and two children.
